Hello,

We just started looking at Powerclient. Now we have a question concerning ODBC-connections:

Is there a How-to to use Powerclient on a brand new client computer where no ODBC-drivers (SQL Anywhere) and no ODBC-connection is already installed / configured and must be done during the first installation of the application?

Kind Regards

Roy

Hi.

What version of sql anywhere? Recent versions (10+ I believe) do have a tool called DeploymentWizard which allows you to build an msi with exact client components you need. You can then upload this msi as part of your project and set a batch file in preload event to run it. This may need admin rights.

Finally, the DSN entry should be created within your application. Or you could generate and use a dsn file.

Andreas.

Thank you. We use SQL Anywhere since years and I was not aware that there's something as DeploymentWizard. I will give it a try
