Hi Guys,

 

Good Day!

 

I tried to deploy our application using Powerclient and it successfully working and up. Now, we had an issue when patching updates to our customer side because our application is huge and our source control in on premise only. Is there a way to patch the update like pbd's only without copying the whole powerclient project?

 

Our powerclient project size is up to 1.5Gb - 2Gb when zip. To copy this remotely to customer will take 30minutes.

Hi Dexter, To directly and simply answer your question, no it is not possible to directly patch the compiled package.  There are no plans to support the scenario you described in near future because there are security considerations and also it requires significant change in the current implementation, which we need to weigh against the demand for the enhancement.

Hi Dexter;

  On an App update, PowerClient via the CAL (cloud app launcher) will only bring down the changed objects to the App user's machine. So updates should be relatively quick as each individual object is a separate web file under a PC deployment.

Have you tried an FTP solution to see if that is faster?

Yes, a "Delta" packaged ZIP would be ideal here. However, that would require a PC enhancement.

We build Powerclient project and manually copied to customer local IIS server.

Aha Okay, so the problem you have is that the copy of the ZIP to server takes half an hour... (not to the users connected to that server).

I'm not sure if you could break up the deployment in separate zip files. Maybe you could separate the PBD's into a separate zip. I haven't used powerclient much, so maybe someone else can help you out better than I can. Sorry.
