I am trying to run the Powerbuilder installer and when it runs it puts an icon on the taskbar and starts the process. Once it downloads all the files it puts up a response window with a checkbox to accept the license agreement. I click on the icon and it will not open so I cannot get to the checkbox to continue. What is causing this?

Please refer to my post on Tuesday the 15th about what I discovered regarding this issue. If you want to try to replicate the issue then run the installation but abort or stop it before it gets going. Maybe you will observe the same issue that I had, who knows. At this point as far as I am concerned getting rid of the pbinsatall dot folder and starting the installation over again fixed the problem.

Thanks,

Bob

Hi Robert,

Sorry, we were unable to reproduce your issue.

The development team’s initial analysis suggests that the issue may be caused by certain settings in the environment where the installer is running. To further confirm the issue, please provide the following information. (To help us track the issue, we kindly ask you to submit it via https://www.appeon.com/standardsupport/newbug). Thank you very much!

1. Provide detailed steps to reproduce the issue, along with corresponding screenshots, and compress them into a .zip file.
2. Compress the .pbinstaller directory (including the config.json file) into a .zip file.
3. Is the machine using a single monitor? If yes, right-click on your computer desktop > select Display settings, and take a full screenshot of the display page for us.
4. Is the machine using multiple monitors? If yes, take a full screenshot of the Display settings, showing the resolutions of all screens (including the screen with the issue) by right-clicking on your computer desktop > select Display settings.
5. Compress the logs located at %temp%\AppeonInstaller\Update\logs and %temp%\AppeonInstaller\PBData\logs into a .zip file and send them to us for analysis.

FYI - Here is what I found. When the installer runs it creates a dot file (.pbinstaller) in the Appfile Local folder. Appfile is a hidden folder so it is not so apparent what is going on. In that folder is a JSON conf file. It seems that if you interfere with or otherwise stop the install the folder stays there and subsequent attempts to run the installer are confused and display the behavior I described earlier. Non responsive on the taskbar. I got rid of the dot file (actually renamed it) and the next time I fired up the installer it worked.

I don't know if the config file gets corrupted or there is something else going on, but this has resolved the issue.

Hi Robert;

  It could be your AntiVirus or you do not have "local administrator" privileges.

  I would suggest running the Appeon a installer again but this time, select the "offline" install option. When the offline PB installer is downloaded, run it by executing "AutoRun.exe" in Admin Mode.  HTH
