Hi.

We are evaluating Gitea as a self hosted git service. I wonder if anyone has tested gitea with powerbuilder. If yes, it worked? Was powerbuilder able to communicate with gitea and pull, push etc.?

Thanks.

Andreas.

Hi

we've been using Gitea with Powerbuilder for a couple of years now and didn't encounter any significant problem.

If you're using a self signed certicate for you Gitea SSL you'l need to install the certificate manually or PowerBuilder won't be able to connect to your repositories.

Personnaly I pull from PB but add/commit/push from Github Desktop although those operations work from within PowerBuilder.

Regards.

Thank you for answering.

I'm still testing gitea without issues so far. Not using a certificate. For push - pull I use Powerbuilder. For commits it depends. When I previously added or renamed a file I use Tortoise. Otherwise I do commit using PB.

Happy to know that someone in this community is using gitea.

We did some tests and were able to create repositories, define users and pull push from different users. I know that gitea isn't listed to git servers that appeon tested. But we found it to be really powerful, and we want to hear impressions from anyone else who may have already evaluated this combination.

Hi Armeen.

I do understand that. We did evaluated in the past bonobo and I've used github. Gitea was suggested from a colleague who used it in the past. I must say that it is very impressive. I do not request appeon to certify it. But I must say I'm impressed from what I've seen. It is really powerful, easy to setup and with great functionality and powerful web ui. Supports more functions than bonobo.

Yes you are right. I understand its not possible to certify every git flavor. So the main point of this question was to get feedback from from the community by persons who already did this "exercise".

So far I did tested gitea with Powerbuilder 2021, and I plan to test with Powerbuilder 2022 Beta.

Thanks.
