Hi Appeon,
Will PowerBuilder have the ability to interact directly with Copilot+ or other AI services ?

Are there any considerations from Appeon to support GitHub Copilot integration into the IDE after PB 2025 where it in theory may be possible after the deprecation of the pbl concept and code is stored in plain text?
While using copilot on web browser to generate and review code is possible, I have seen the benefits of having it be available in IDE as it is in VSCode for example to manipulate code directly.
If the AI service is exposed as a web service, PowerBuilder apps could interact just like they can with other web services.
If you want to have AI write code, I'm not so sure that is a good idea. It would base it's answers on what it can find on the web in the online help and probably stackoverflow.
Guardar el código fuente en texto plano
El nuevo compilador guarda el código fuente como texto sin formato en lugar del formato binario propietario PBL:
Según entiendo la IA funciona con archivos editable .txt
Hi Steen, You can do this today. Of course not as convenient as if it was integrated, but you could still have AI write PowerScript code for you and you incorporate it in your project. PB 2025 will have source code in plain text format so you could open it up another editor that has AI and write code for you directly.
Best regards,
Armeen
Hi Steen;
Currently, that technology is not on the PB 2025 roadmap ...

Don't know the answer, but other companies may offer such an integration for their IDE's. I know as an example that JetBrains does...
Andreas.
You probably are right. I haven't tried the copilot plugin they offer. What I know, is that it works from almost all the IDEs they offer.
