Hi,

we would love to use the new optimized theme resize behaviour in PB2022 R3 3289 which allows us to reduce the size of our window borders back to 1px.

However it seems like there is a gap between the title bar and the window border which looks odd:

 

Is there a way to get rid of the 3px white space between the titlebar and the window border?

Dear Appeon-Team,

It would be great if you could still answer our questions from 8 days ago, so that we know how to proceed with PB2022R3:

1. Can you please let us know when a fix for the problem is likely to be available so that we can migrate to BP 2022 R3?

2. Fix for your suggested workaround, which alos doesn't work: ".... if border >= 2 and <= 8, the border line will use the specified number as the width...")

 

we are still stuck in PB2021 as we cannot migrate to PB2022 due to this bug. Alternatively, we would have to think again about how to build a workaround for the new border-behavior.

Dear Appeon,

How do you expect us to upgrade to newer versions, even if those might have fixed older bugs, but have new bugs introduced and bugs won't be always fixed in same / previous versions?

Due to several bugs unfixed, we're stuck on 2019.

Hello Kitty, Hello Appeon-Team,

we have now received the information from you regarding End-of-Life of PowerBuilder 2021.

We have been wanting to migrate to PowerBuilder 2022 R3 for over 2 months now and supply our customers with the version. But the switch is unfortunately not yet possible due to the error/behaviour of the border, which is descriped in this post.

Unfortunately, the suggested fix by Appeon doesn't work (".... if border >= 2 and <= 8, the border line will use the specified number as the width...").

Can you please let us know when a fix for the problem is likely to be available so that we can migrate to BP 2022 R3?

Hello Kitty,

we originally wanted to migrate from PB2021 to PB2022R3 at the beginning of 2023. The plan was to deliver our application to the first customers in February with PB2022.

With this restriction of having a white border around the window (see attached screenshot), we unfortunately cannot switch to PB2022 R3 and are trapped in PB2021. We and our customers attach great importance to the user interface. It is very important for us to deliver a clean and coherent user interface.

Unfortunately, the fix suggested by Julie does not work either.

Do you think there will be a short-term solution in PB2022R3?

In Microsoft Word, the Red X is flush with the side. The scroll area starts below the ribbon control.

PowerBuilder should act the same.

AFAIK MS Office and many other Windows applications do not rely on the default Desktop Window Manager to draw the window borders and titlebar, the titlebar is instead completely custom. That's the only way to show other icons and buttons up there.

The few extra pixels are there for dragging. We will analyze whether it can be optimized in the PB 2025.

Some of us who now rely on UI Themes would have to hold off on upgrading to PB 2022 R3 because of those gaps, because they look like a flaw in the UI. Is it possible to issue a "hot fix" to revert to the previous UI Themes behavior in 2022 R3? It doesn't seem reasonable to have to wait until PB 2025 for a fix.

Hi Ronnie,

Our engineering team will study how to rectify the behavior. For 2022 R3, how about setting the border = 2? Because if border >= 2 and <= 8, the border line will use the specified number as the width, and the grab area will have the same width as the border line. It can help get rid of the white space.

The ideal fix would allow us to have a borderless window while still having a grab area, if that is possible.
