All our technical team had PowerBuilder 2022 R3 verison 1900. On top of the verison 1900 all of us installed below versions in the same order.

PowerBuilder 2022 R3 3289
PowerBuilder 2022 R3 3356

After the installs, some of the technical see below 3 versions on the PowerBuilder 2022 R3 system options.

- 22.0.0.1900
- 22.2.0.3289
- 22.2.0.3356

While some of the technical team see only 2 versions on the PowerBuilder 2022 R3 system options.

- 22.0.0.1900
- 22.2.0.3356

When we open PowerBuilder 2022 R3 session, all of see build and runtime versions as 3356 which is expected.

But do we know why system options list different versions for some of us? Is there any impact due to the different versions being listed on the system options?

1)

We checked the window registry Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Sybase\PowerBuilder Runtime on all our machine, all of us could see the below versions on the registry.

Runtime 22.0.0.1892
Runtime 22.0.0.1900
Runtime 22.2.0.3289
Runtime 22.2.0.3356

We all have the below folders as well on the C:\Program Files (x86)\Appeon\Common\PowerBuilder.

Runtime 22.0.0.1892
Runtime 22.0.0.1900
Runtime 22.2.0.3289
Runtime 22.2.0.3356

None of our team see the 3289 and 3356 on the PowerBuilder IDE system options. Can you please let us know how the PowerBuilder is reading these registry entries?

2)
Apart from the registry entry does the install create any files on our local drives that we may be missing? We want to check if any of the install files that may contain the version information is getting wipes out by the daily maintenance.

3)
As per the policy, we use an admin account to install the PowerBuidler software and then reboot the machine. Once the install is complete, we use a different LAN account (developer) to run the software. When we run PB 2022 R3 either as an administrator or as a developer, system option only displays 22.0.0.1900, while we can see the registry entries for all the versions we installed.

4) Any information that Appeon could provide us about a specific window policy that is preventing us from using the latest versions will be helpful.

Thanks,

We previously had v1900 on our machines.

Last week we installed PB 2022 R3 3289 and PB 2022 R3 3356 and rebooted the machines.

Some of us saw only 1900 and 3356 on the system options.

Rest of us saw 1900, 3289 and 3356 on the system options.

Today after I posted the original issue, we rebooted our machines. After the reboot today, now we see only 22.0.0.1900 on the system options menu

PowerBuilder 2022 R3 display below.

Version 2022 R3 Build 3356

Runtime 22.0.0.1900

Window registry displays below folders.

  • Runtime 22.0.0.1892
  • Runtime 22.0.0.1900
  • Runtime 22.2.0.3289
  • Runtime 22.2.0.3356

We have code that use different versions of the PowerBuilder R3 and we need to switch between the run time versions. Please let us know how to proceed.

Hi Raja;

I wonder if a Windows "Policy" setting is interfering / rolling back your developer machine settings?

Sounds like an issue to discuss with your organization's "Operations" team maybe.

The System Options window looks in the registry for the Runtime Version dropdown.

This key has a key under it for each installed runtime:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Sybase\PowerBuilder Runtime

Thanks Chris.

My teammates who see only 1900 and 3356 on their system options, confirm that they installed 1900, 3289 and 3356 in that order. I have attached the screenshot from their machines.

For all of us C:\Program Files (x86)\Appeon\Common\PowerBuilder folder displays below runtime folders.

  • Runtime 22.0.0.1892
  • Runtime 22.0.0.1900
  • Runtime 22.2.0.3289
  • Runtime 22.2.0.3356

However system options doesn't display 22.2.0.3289 only for few of us.

Will there be any impact due to this mismatch on the system options? Please suggest if this needs to be addressed and how we can resolve this. Thanks.

What version of Windows is your team running?

Also, on real or VM machines?

Hi Raja;

This would only happen if some of your team went right to build 3356 & skipped the 3289 MR.
