Trying to use PBAutoBuild220 on a remote server where the PB Runtime / IDE is not installed. It doesn't seem to work. Based on the documentation, AutoBuild requires Runtime installed on the server. Is there a way to use AutoBuild as standalone compiler ?

PBC was very useful in this scenario as it was standalone in PB2017 version!

Upgrading from 2017 to 2022 version and not having standalone compiler is very inconvenient for us as we have limitations installing on the server. Any suggestions / pointers from the community is much appreciated.

TIA

Hi SR,

Thanks for letting us know your scenario. Currently, AutoBuild relies on the Runtime to compile. We can submit an enhancement request to the product team to consider allowing users to copy the Runtime files to the PowerBuilderUtilities folder to use AutoBuild without installing the Runtime.

Regards,

Kitty

Hi SR;

   The PBAutoBuild is much more feature rich (ie performs ORCA SCM) and thus, requires runtime resources. It requires the PowerBuilder Runtime (and PowerServer Toolkit when compiling PowerServer projects) in order to run, so it must be installed to a machine where PowerBuilder Runtime (and PowerServer Toolkit) will also be installed. To install PBAutoBuild220.exe, run the PowerBuilder Installer and select PowerBuilder Compiler in the Programs tab.

   Note that the PBC compiler is still provided in PB 2022 as well. However, for more complex compilations, you will also need to install the ORCA utility as well

Any idea what's missing, I'm getting following error while silently install PowerBuilder Runtime, and PowerBuilderUtilities.

silentinstall.bat "opt=pb" "log=c:\temp\appeon-install.log"

PowerBuilder is installing ...

Error: code=-2147213312
