Gents  - I am picking up the baton from this earlier question which is marked resolved:

https://community.appeon.com/index.php/qna/q-a/sql-native-client-support#reply-12700

After installing PB19 we have this problem now whereby the connection to our SQL Server db  (Microsoft SQL Server 2005 - 9.00.4035.00 ) will not connect using the OLE DB parm.  All the current PB17 stuff does connect still, with same parm. I have tried uninstall/reinstall of PB19 and still error. I have also tried using the MSOLEDBSQL in place of the current  PROVIDER='SQLOLEDB'  but no effect. See attached for my reinstall setup and error. Thanks in advance.

All - this turned out to be a problem with file paths/locations rather than a SQL Server mismatch. I am at a loss a little bit because in spite of our SQL Server 2005 only versions on the the two boxes we are working on the PB19 builds still connected. Not going to bother chasing it down now. Thanks.

Hi John;

   Note that SS2005 and even SS2008 are no longer supported by Microsoft.

SS2005:  EOL - 2016-04-12

SS2008:  EOL - 2020-01-14

   PB2019 supports SS2008R2 through SS2019 currently.

Note: You must install the SS DB Client that matches your DBMS version on the PB IDE machine.

Regards ... Chris

hey again Chris, thanks much for the fast answers as always. I guess that spells it out and we're behind enough already so they need to get on the stick. This whole PB upgrade we're doing is in tandem with a long-overdue Windows update also (I don't want to tell you how old the Windows version is on our prod box, yikes) so they might as well get the MSS updated too. I'm going to leave this "unresolved" and resolve it when we get everything working so I can give this a "works!" stamp of approval.
