Hi

We migrated our PB application from Appeon 6.5 server and PB 12.5 to Powerserver 2020 and PB 2019 R2. The Appeon 6.5 server was only compatible with IE browser.

The new PS 2020 is supposed to be compatible with all browsers. Since IE is going out of support, the users wanted to use Google Chrome.

During testing using Google chrome browser, Testers reported display issues (blurring and pixilation) in Chrome and Edge that cause eye strain. The screen looked fuzzy and with text difficult to read.

More space maybe needed between the characters too.

These issues are NOT happening when using the IE browser and screen looks clear.

I also learned that IE uses only powerserver plugin while chrome/Edge/Firefox
need both the Appeonmultibrowser.exe and powerserver plugin.

I have already entered a ticket with standard support but we dont have a final solutions for this.

I wanted to check with other developers and experts on whether they had similar problem and how they fixed it.

Is there a fix or workaround for this problem?

Thanks,

Hi Munther,

It seems screen resolution related issue, Please try the solution below on all machines where users need to run the application on Chrome:

Step 1: Go to C:\Users\%current windows user%\AppData\Local\Appeon Multi-browser Plug-in, for example:
C:\Users\Appeon\AppData\Local\Appeon Multi-browser Plug-in.

Step 2: Right-click AppeonMultiBrowser.exe and go to Properties -> Compatibility -> Change high DPI settings -> check Override high DPI scaling behavior. Scaling performed by:
Application.

Step 3: Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application.

Step 4: Right-click chrome.exe and go to Properties -> Compatibility -> Change High DPI settings to UNCHECK Override high DPI scaling behavior.

Hi

I have tried it on my machine and did not notice any changes. I sent it to some test users to test it out. Still waiting for a test results from them on this.

Hi Munther,

What’s your screen resolution? Does the Chrome on your machine also have this issue?

Is the UI on Chrome the same as that on IE on your machine? If not, let's schedule a remote session to debug it. We would recommend you to make the remote session during our working time which is 9:00 ~ 17:00 (we are in UTC+8 ) thus we can get immediate help from the other team if necessary.

Hi Munther,

I have taken one large application deployed to Cloud PS 2020. Since a few years, it is accessed as IWA-only: several thousands end-users, no one ever reporting whatsoever issue with fonts or fuzzy aspects.

Today I gave it a whirl in a browser, and got surprised indeed. See attached image, IE is as clean and readable a IWA, while in Chrome (FF too) texts are clipped and blurry. Since IWA is supposed to use an embedded (32bit) Chrome browser running the same app that I am directly running in Chrome, I expected differences, if any, to happen between IWA/Chrome and IE. My app uses Trebuchet MS, but a quick test with Arial shows same issues above.

Would be interesting to hear from Appeon core team here.

Best,
