Hello, a question on the Chromium browser.

Our production app is on PB 2019 R3, so it's using the older 78.x Chromium browser.  We use it for DocuSign-ing of contracts, etc.

A bug appeared out of the blue 2 weeks ago, and the DocuSign interaction is causing problems.

So we did a quick migration to PB 2022 to test the newer Chromium version, and DocuSign is working fine.

However, we can't quickly migrate to 2022 without detailed regression testing, etc.

We tried swapping out the /pbcef folder from the 2022 runtime into our 2019 build deploy, but that did not resolve.

So my question - is there a way to upgrade ONLY the pbcef runtime for a PB 2019 R3 app?

Thanks!

John

Hi John,

It won't work to ONLY upgrade the pbcef runtime. Many interfaces are updated in the newer version of CEF. We also modified other associated runtime DLLs (mainly PBWebBrowser.dll). Different versions of PB runtime DLLs are not compatible. So there is no easy way to upgrade CEF on PB 2019 R3.

BTW, we plan to release PB 2019 R3 MR which include WebView2 in the first half of next year, maybe in Q1 if all goes well.

Regards,
Kai

Hi.

I'm not sure if this would work. Anyway doing this you may not be able to get support. As your issue is related to docusign, they don't provide an api you can use with httpclient or restclient?

Andreas.

Hi John;

FYI: the built-in Web browser control in PB 2022 R2 will be based on the Microsoft "WebView2".

Armeen, Chris - are there rough estimates of dates for R2 Beta/GA? I looked at the roadmap but of course that's general.

June 2023 is best guess at this point.
