Hi,

(questions and doubts in bold)

I'm still trying if our applications could have a future on the web cloud  without:
- completely having to re-writing everything in one go,
- or having to keep different versions of our databases (meaning different providers)
- have less competitive pricing (unless Postgresql would be used, if that DB IS fully supported now?).
- not being able to follow the "hybrid / gradual" migration to n-tier on a web server, as described by Appeon in Elevate

but I'm stuck with the same thing: It seems that Appeon does not allow "Other" ODBC / OLEDB drivers for our database of choice for the .Net cloud migration (Tibero). I don't really know why you even can configure a database connection on Appeon WEB  (.Net) as "Other" when it's not supported?

We could  look into the Appeon J2EE server installation, but then all of our connections would have to be JDBC and I suppose that in that case we would not be able to use our .Net services and possible workarounds? (I'm a noob so not sure).

Am I correct in giving up, or is there a way? (like Appeon supporting "Other" databases or combining another server for .Net ?)

best regards,

MiguelL..

Hi Miguel;

While Appeon products at this time are not certified for the Tibero DBMS ... Tibero advertises that they have "complete compatibility with Oracle products, including SQL". Have you tried connecting to Tibero using any of the the Oracle DBMS client drivers?

Regards ... Chris

Well, today we had a small meeting and decided to "still" try to make our stuff working, even if it has to be with Oracle. Since my PB2017 AEM seems to need 64 bit drivers and I couldn't get the configuration transaction datasources to work with both 32 and 64 for Oracle Native, nor ODBC, I'll just uninstall everything and try to only install "everything" 32 bit.

Your advice of just trying to use the Oracle drivers is surely first on my list.

Thanks and will let you know.

I've fixed the AEM connection-problems-mix-32-64bit by uninstalling everything. (this time also from the APP features and not only the PROGRAM features of windows, since the latter left everything installed in APP features).

Now I only have to try and use Tibero as if it was Oracle.

Well, I've tried to connect using both the Oracle native and odbc driver. It does NOT work.

Tibero claims a "near" 100% compatibility with Oracle, but one thing is the syntax and another the drivers.

So yes, that's a shame.
