Wanted to know whether we can use any alternate browser apart from Internet explorer as support for internet explorer may be going to get replaced by some other browsers. Default browser may be Edge.

How can we handle that situation in PowerBuilder, though we have a component in PB2019R2 but it doesn't interact with PowerScript. Are we having any plans or any roadmap?

Please suggest.

Thanks

Prasanth

Please post different questions in separate threads. Your original question was about using different Web browser. This is very different question.

No"Not supported" does not always mean "it won;t work".
PBv12 was not supported on Windows 10 and there were ways to make it work on Windows 10.

If you are feeling Brave andAdventurous, give it a try!  :)

We tried using webbrowser control provided with PB2019R3.

We have observed the following issues: Need some robust control or information where we have less issues.

1. Navigate function which we used from olewebbrowser activex, we were able to pass header information but in webbrowser control we don't have similar      argument.

2. No HTML form document reference in power script similar to OLE.

3. Saw many intermittent issues like it launches page while running in debug mode but not when running the code.

4. Other intermittent issues like page launches with message boxes but does not work when the message boxes removed.

Tried using edge since internet explorer is going to be decommissioned which has some different issues.
This way we are left in a dilemma on what to use and how to move forward and get it resolved sooner so no user is impacted with these changes.

We basically need to interact to and from webbrowser control and open new tabs within the application, get or pass information from/to webpage within powerbuilder.

Thanks
Prasanth

Hi Prasanth,

We would count on Microsoft to support an alternate browser apart from Internet explorer in the OLE object first. It seems that the chance is really low.

Thanks for reporting the issues on the new WebBrowser control. I have passed the information to the engineering team because they are still looking for ways to further enhance the control, to make it work better for you. Therefore, if you have more enhancement requests, please do not hesitate to let us know.

Best regards, Julie

Yes, in PB 2019 R3 the new Chrome browser control will be enhanced so you can interact with a PowerScript.
