We have a customer who has office 365 'click to run' installed version (vs full msi install).  They are not able to connect to excel using the ConnectToNewObject method call.  Excel is loaded, just it's the 'click to run' version.  Is it possible to trick Powerbuilder into thinking excel is installed?

Thanks,
Brian Prom

The whole point of Click To Run is to run the program in isolation for security purposes. A side effect that Microsoft failed to address is OLE Automation doesn't work.

If they really need the PB app to control Excel, they will have to switch to a regular install on the PC that will use that feature.

Brian -

If the two commands in the post from Roland worked, then what's the "ole automation issue" the customer has?

Hi Roland,

I did see that post and I did run these two commands on that server.  They said they ran successfully, but it didn't fix the ole automation issue.

C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319>regtlibv12.exe "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Office16\MSO.DLL"

C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319>regtlibv12.exe "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office16\MSWORD.OLB"

Thanks,

Brian
