When creating an ODBC Configuration for PB Demo 2022, and when I click on the Test Connection button I receive an error, that it is unable to start server.  I followed the steps in the Appeon doucment guide, and looking for any insight that will help me.

Kevin -

1. Double-click on dbeng.exe to ensure that SQL ANYWHERE has been installed correctly and the application starts correctly.

2. Once SQL ANYWHERE opens, point it to your database to ensure that it can open the database.

3. Remember to use the 32 bit version of the database when running with PowerBuilder (I know you know this).

4. Delete your existing DSN. Delete your DW Painter profile. Reboot the platform (PC or VM).

5. Rebuild the SYSTEM DSN.

6. Rebuild the Profile.

FYI:  Here's an ODBC database I have:

 Good Luck!

both 32 and 64 bit drivers are connected. When trying to connect using the shortcut I get the same message Database server not found.

[SAP][ODBC Driver][SQL Anywhere]Database server not found
    SQLCODE=-100
    SQLSTATE=08001

Connection parameters:
    User=dba
    Password=***
    Server=PBDemoDB2022
    DBN=pbdemo2022
    LINKS=ShMem

I uninstalled and re-installed as Administrator and still no joy. I'm still getting the same message 'Connection failed: Unable to start database server' when I try to connect.

As Christ mentioned, are you creating a System DSN?

When you installed SQL Anywhere, did you install both 32-bit and 64-bit drivers?

When selecting SQL Anywhere shortcut from Windows start menu, are you able to start the DB server?
