Hello,

I installed PB2017 trial edition on a Windows 10 Pro tablet. SQLAnywhere 12 and 17 are already installed on it.

I try to setup a 32bits ODBC datasource to the AppeonSample.db database with no luck, neither with SA12 nor SA17.

Error message is : "Connection failed : unable to start specified database : 'C:\...\Database\AppeonSample.db' was created by a different version of the software".

Exactly the same ODBC entry works well on my Windows 7 Pro desktop.

What could be wrong ?

Thank you !

Pierre

Thank you all for you answers and efforts to help me.

On the initial PB2017 trial install, I did not install the demo db because no SQLAnywhere engine was installed on my PC yet.

Afterwards I installed SQLAnywhere and tried to manually create the needed 32bits ODBC entry for AppeonSample database, but never succeeded to make it work.

So I uninstalled everything except SQLAnywhere, and installed again PB2017, PowerServer Mobile and toolkit. That time the needed ODBC entries were automatically created and worked !

I still don't understand why the ODBC entry created manually didn't work, but let's pass over it !

Have a nice day.

Pierre

Did you verify that you are using the 32-bit version of the driver? These settings work for me in Windows 10 Pro:

(Yours should say SQL Anywhere 12 or SQL Anywhere 17)

Also, in the configuration settings, Database tab, make sure that "Start line" and "Database file" point to valid files:

These should have been set up automatically, but just in case, the default user ID/password is dba/sql:

Hi Pierre;

FYI: I can connect to either of the AppeonSample and AppeonSample2 exmple databases from any of my PB 12.x IDE's and PB 2017, as follows:

During the PB 2017 software installation, did you request that installer install the example apps?

Regards ... Chris

I am able to open the AppeonDemo shipped with PB2017 using ASA 16.0 on a Win10 box.

Cheers,

Marco
