Need the power builder Apps to migrate to cloud using some tools available in market.

Below are the questions that came from customer. Can you please help to explore on this and respond as I need to go bac to customer.

  1. Is it a PowerBuilder new version that we have to go onto that would make it cloud compatible or do we have to use another tool and make existing PB version cloud compatible (currently we are using PB2019 Build 2082)
  2. What are the licensing costs (if any)
  3. Do we still have to use Citrix to host the application? is Citrix available on Cloud if not what are our options
  4. Will the new PB version that is cloud compatible will be on our cloud or the vendors cloud

Can you please resolve our queries ASAP. We need to migrate the PowerBuilder App to migrate to cloud and the Oracle 12 or 19 c is the database we are currently using.

#3 - Do we still have to use Citrix to host the application  --> No, that is what powerserver is for.  use powerserver or use citrix, but not both as they serve the same purpose but do it very differently.  Note that powerserver only works on windows clients, citrix is open to non-windows.

#4 Will the new PB version that is cloud compatible will be on our cloud or the vendors cloud  -->  it can be on any server (yours, azure, aws, etc.)

#2  licensing costs  -->  go look at the pricing:    Buy Appeon Products | Appeon

Adding to what Mike said, PowerBuilder 2022 R2 is version you should upgrade to if you want to do cloud deployment. And here is 3-minute video explain some more about the cloud option: https://youtu.be/Li_pTEwMqw0

Hi Vijay;

  That's what the CloudPro edition of PowerBuilder is for...

https://www.appeon.com/products/powerbuilder/faqs/why-upgrade.html

   This edition also supports Oracle DB's up to version 23C.

Regards... Chris
