I use PowerBuilder 2022 R3 3391.

I face the problem that there are differences in the output between the nativePDF and the distill method when there are barcodes included.

I attached a small sample datawindow "d_test_4".

It´s using BARCODE 39-25 (for testing I attached the font files)

The output when printing or exporting with the distill method is fine. The barcodes have the "right" size.

When exporting with the nativePDF method the barcodes become very small.

What do I have to do for getting the same size no matter which method I use?

I hope the error is on my side and someone can help.

Hi, Marco -

I tried two variations and was unsuccessful:

  1. I tried an alternative Code 3 of 9 barcode TrueType font, thinking there may be something in the Code-39-25 barcode font that is causing the problem in PB. The alternative font showed similar symptoms.
  2. I then tried enabling the application object property to imbed fonts when NativePDF is used. This was also not successful.

If you have not already done so, I suggest you open a free bug ticket about this issue. Include a simple, working test app, but I also suggest you include only the one .ttf file (CODE_39B.ttf) that defines the Code-39-25 font instead of the entire suite of 18 fonts (17 of which are not used/needed).

A note for future reference: In your question, I very much would've appreciated knowing which .ttf file contains the Code-39-25 font that you are using instead of having to locally install the three included CODE_39x.ttf font files to ferret this information out myself. When you ask for assistance, please make every reasonable effort to help us help you.

Best regards, John

Ok. Sorry. My mistake. I find it strange to give barcodes for free but to disallow to embed them in PDF.

It´s not the problem to embed the fonts in PDF. The barcodes are displayed correctly. But in a smaller size using the NativePDF rather than printing

Hi.

Many of those barcode fonts cannot be embedded, and I suspect that they may not be free to share... If this is the case you should not post them here.

As for you question, I wonder if any of the methods is generating an image in place of the barcode. This can be easily checked by trying to mark-select part of the barcode in the pdf. If you can partially select it, then it isn't an image...

Andreas.
