Hello.

The company I'm working for has some PB6 windows desktop applications that used to be maintained by a developer that is no longer with the company. Is it a major undertaking to migrate the code base to the latest version of PB for ease of maintainance or is it perhaps better to rewrite the whole thing? I should mention I have no experience in PB.

Hi Gunnlaugur,

Appeon has been working with PowerBuilder customers for over 2 decades so we understand a thing or two about our customers situations.

I can guarantee you it will be much more, exponentially more, unimaginably more work to rewrite an exiting app than simply upgrade to newer version of PowerBuilder.

Considering you don't have any PB developers, I strongly recommend you outsource to one of our consulting partners.  PowerBuilder is very productive tool, you could probably get away with just adding 1 headcount to maintain this app for you for the long-term.

Best regards,
Armeen

There are some PowerBuillder specific consulting companies that could help with that.
