Hi.

 

We have a very weird situation in our PB 2017 R3 MDI application (PFC).

From time to time the menu items in the main menu gets duplicated:

This usually starts with one or two extra "copies" of the menu item, but it quickly fills the entire main menu from right to left. So at the end, all menu items says "Help" (a cry for help, perhaps?).

We have yet to find any solution to why this is happening, and are unable to reproduce this at our end.

So, has anyone seen this behavior before?

And is there a way to perhaps diagnose this in some way?

 

PS. We are using Assima Multilanguage Suite to translate the application from Norwegian to English and Spanish.

But there is no consistency in this happening, so I cannot blaim Assima alone at this point.

Hi Bjarne;

   When you migrated your PB App to PB2017Rx, did you also install the equivalent (matching) PFC version?

No, not in that version.

But we've migrated to PB2019 with PFC 2017, and hopefully we'll install that version very soon.

However, I think we've seen this issue in earlier version as well, both PB12.5 and PB2017.

Looks like your current PFC wise as I have not seen a PB2019 version of the PFC published yet.

Hi Bjarne,

I would hunt for where the unexpected duplication happens; then look for reason and thereby correction. 

Q1: When duplication is visual => what is the actual value of MenuItem.Text for each item in main menu?
If .Text is duplicate then code changed it.
If .Text differs from value then it is display issue. 

Q2: Does duplication appear before or after the translation "middleware"?

I expect the translation software runs in the "code" pipeline, not the "display" pipeline. In any case I wouldn't trust any code when app behaves really weird. So I would definitely first check whether it is a display issue.
