Hello,

I have a question concerning to the Log Modes in Appeon PowerServer 2017 Build 1858.00 64-bit Edition.

As we can find in the documentation here the Standard log mode is described as:

Mode 2: Standard mode

Standard mode is the default mode, and should be used when the system is stabilized. It generates standard log files that are sufficient for providing basic system activity information and notifies you if errors have occurred. This mode may be inadequate for detailed troubleshooting.

What kind of information can be framed as basic system activity information?

Our logs does not show any info when set to standard mode (0.00 KB).

What info, other than errors does the Powerserver logs in?

Thanks,

Edson.

Hi Edson;

   Logging is as follows ....

Off

Off mode does not generate any log files except error log files. It offers the fastest performance.

Standard mode

Standard mode is the default mode, and should be used when the system is stabilized. It generates standard log files that are sufficient for providing basic system activity information and notifies you if errors have occurred. This mode may be inadequate for detailed troubleshooting.

Developer mode

Developer mode generates detailed log files that are sufficient for routine checking and troubleshooting. Performance speed decreases when using this mode.

Debug mode

Debug mode generates log files that record every system activity in detail and provide the user with information for troubleshooting obscure or hard to find issues. Debug mode log files are useful for technical support. There is a noticeable slowdown in performance when using this mode.

Note: In order to log an application to the above Developer or Debug level mode - both the PS Server and the App must be set to the same debug mode values.

HTH

Regards ... Chris

The standard log will catch basic errors.  It is normal it is 0.00KB .

The debug mode will catch all communications between the client and server.  We don't recommend leaving that on for long because it will quickly fill up the hard drive with a huge log file.  Also, it could slow down the performance of your web app.
