This is true on multiple developer machines here where PB 2017 R3 Universal has been installed, yet I've not been able to find anyone else mentioning it here on the forums. (Admittedly, the search terms aren't very selective.)

All incoming links into the "Objects and Controls" book in the online help are broken.

Right from the "Contents" tab (after "F1" from the IDE to bring up help Contents), clicking on anything under "Objects and Controls" results in "This page can't be displayed".

Same thing with direct links from the IDE:  if we are in the Window painter, click to select an object, then right-click on the properties pane and select "Help": also navigates to a nonexistent help URI within Objects and Controls.

Links into "Objects and Controls" from other Help Books are also broken. For instance in "Application Techniques" the help page "About TreeView Controls" includes a link to "the section called 'TreeView control' in Objects and Controls" but clicking on that link also results in "This page can't be displayed."

The Index and Search tabs do produce working links into Objects and Controls help content, I assume because those links are generated based on indexing the actual help content.

From what I've been able to tell, the correct URI for, for instance, the "What are system objects?" page in Objects and Controls is:

C:\Users\Public\Documents\Appeon\PowerBuilder%2017.0\Help\objects_and_controls.chm::/objcont-XREF_92499_What_are_system.html

...whereas the incorrect link used everywhere else is:

C:\Users\Public\Documents\Appeon\PowerBuilder%2017.0\Help\pbman170.chm::/objects_and_controls.chm::/objcont-XREF_92499_What_are_system.html

Note the string "pbman170.chm::/" has been incorrectly inserted in all of the bad links.

Is this a known issue or is there something unique about our installations? We are on Windows 7 Enterprise SP1, using PB 2017 R3 (Universal) build 1858.

All;

 Note: this was fixed in PB2017 R3 MR01 (build 1880).

Hi Jeff;

   FYI: Amazingly enough, the broken links in the latest InfoMaker, PowerServer and PowerBuilder product Help Files only started happening recently after any PB Developer applied the MS-Windows10 KB4462919 patch. I am not sure why this EBF broke the CHM links.

   We have ticket #1744 open for this issue. Its status is "Verifying". I have not heard if the Appeon Documentation Team has a fix for this MS-Windows issue yet. I'll be sure to test this aspect though in the upcoming PB2018 Beta starting very soon. I'll try report back here as soon as I hear more.

Regards ... Chris

Interesting Chris, thanks. I wonder why it's only the "Objects and Controls" book that exhibits this problem?

Also, I still have PB 12.5 installed on this same PC, and as far as I can tell 12.5 Help still works fine after the EBF.

Hi Jeff ... Yes, PB 12.5.x's CHM links work OK. I think that its because Sybase used a different (and older) tool to build the CHM file(s). It seems the newer tool that Appeon uses for the CHM files is exposed to this MS-Windows change. :-(
