Resolved License level required to switch back to old RTE control?

A suggestion for our current problems with the new RTE control is that it is possible to utilize the old control by switching a setting in the Application Painter. However, I do not see the mentioned setting when I go to look for it.

I feel like I read somewhere (but can't find it now) that the option for the old control in the Application Painter is not available in the standard edition license, which is what we are currently using. Is this correct? If so, what license level is required for that option (for the old RTE control) to become available?

Hi Randolph,

For the problems you are having with the new RTE control, have you created a support ticket?  

We provided the option of utilizing the old control (TX Text Control ActiveX) for backwards compatibility.  However, since the one that previous PB versions (like PB 12.6) were using is already obsolete, if you want to take the option of using TX Text Control ActiveX, please get a copy of the current Text Control from the vendor and test carefully whether your application will work well with it. And, please be aware of this limitation described in PowerBuilder Release Bulletin:  The optional editor (TX Text Control ActiveX) does not work with rich-text edit style columns in non-RTF DataWindows (Grid, FreeForm, etc). It only works with the RichTextEdit control and the RichText DataWindow object.

Open the Application object, click the "Additional Properties" button, switch to the RichTextEdit tab.

You do have to purchase the TX Text Control license yourself. Appeon switched to a different RTF control because TX wanted so much money to renew the license that they would have had to double the price of PowerBuilder.

I have Appeon PowerBuilder 2017 Cloud Edition and see on RichTextEdit Tab of Application object Additional Properties only 2 options: Build-in Rich Edit Control that is obviously the new one and TX TextControl ActiveX X14 Professional/Enterprise, Comments to the 2nd option says that you must purchase this control from www.textcontrol.com.
