Resolved license for install powerbuilder on server

about license.

we are plan to install powerbuilder on a server to automate the build (by using CLI) and deploy.

what kind of license to i need to install and use power builder on the build server?

Hi Qingyang ;

  If you are using an Appeon version of PB, you should be using either the PBC or even better yet PBAutoBuild external compilers for automated builds. FYI ...

Thanks Chris, so as long as we have the subscription, there wont be necessary for additional subscription in order for me to use PBC.

am i understand correctly?

Is it true that these stand-alone compiler tools don't require entering license email/password to activate like the IDE does?

What version of PowerBuilder?  Automated build features of PowerBuilder and licensing policies are different depending on version.

so far we are talking about powerbuilder 2019, maybe will move to a newer version.

if you know more, or if there is a link that i can check?

for example, if we have a developer do the work, we will buy a powerbuilder professional license. and if we want to build in server automatically by using PBC, do i need to buy another powerbuilder professional license or there are some other kind of license i should buy? or since we have one license already so we don't need to buy additional license.

we will not deploy to cloud, still on premise server.

For PB 2019 use PBC.exe. Whenever you upgrade to PB 2022, use the new PBAutoBuild... much better than PBC.

Yes, it is correct you don't need additional license to use PBC or PBAutoBuild.
