Resolved IWA ( Installable Web Apps ) browser type?

We provide the option of using IWA or regular browser for accessing my appeon web application.  I need to know which access method the user is using.  The browser type api (AppeonGetBrowserVersion ( )) is blank for the type (why is that?).  any thoughts?

Hey Mike,

Would the combination of AppeonGetClientType() (="WEB") and AppeonGetBrowserVersion() (= blank) tell you that the runtime is IWA?

Blank may indicate that it is IWA.  I track the browser and the connection url when my users login, and it looks like that currently works in 2016.  However, i used to get "The current browser is not Internet Explorer" for some browsers.  The way google keeps changing their browser i wouldn't be surprised if a newer version chrome would start reporting blank for the type.



Appeon support suggested to look at the cache directory name to see if _IWA_ is contained in the name - and use that to indicate that the user is running via IWA.

Hi Mike;

      IWA applications are not web based apps that run inside a particular browser. Instead, they use a run-time called the IWA Runner - which is a native Win32 App. That is why that command fails to return you the browser version.

I need to know it was run on IWA vs browser.  Are you saying that appeon web doesn't have this ability?
