Hi

i am looking for some advice, i need to use a terminal server to run an appeon web application, i have users that are on macs and it seems to me to be the only way i can do this.

Would you recommend setting up the users to use IWA or say Chrome using the plug in.

Whichever way - do you know how to prevent each user having to go through download ?

Any advice on using terminal services with powerserver would be awesome

server =  windows 2012 R2

pb=2019

power server =- latest version

thanks in advance

andrew

Hi Andrew,

I'd recommend to go with IWA over the Web browser plugin approach.  This way you don't need to worry about browser settings/privileges affecting your application.

As far as what to do about your macOS users, there is really two options:

1. Use some sort of virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) running Windows OS, such as terminal services.  There is a Microsoft remote desktop client for macOS.  Your users will need to install that unless they already have a compatible remote desktop client.

2. Run Windows 10 OS on the Apple hardware.  This can be done using Apple's Bootcamp, which is free and built into macOS, or a number of third-party virtual machine options, such as the open-source VirtualBox.

Not sure what download you are referring to.  Your users will need to either install a remote desktop client for VDI approach or Windows 10 OS if running the app locally on their machine.

Regards,
Armeen

the other option is to have the users run

https://www.vmware.com/products/fusion.html

https://www.parallels.com/

etc.

in any case, the users will have to download something.  IWA is best, but you have to download that.

if you are going to run terminal server no matter what, then you should just run native PB in terminal server.

I agree with Mike that if you are going to run remote desktop not sure why you would use PowerServer within the remote desktop. The whole point of PowerServer is to replace the remote desktop, but of course it doesn't support macOS.
