Resolved Issues with SMTP to send an email with a PDF

Hello experts

PB2022 R3 Build 3356

SMTP - I have a PB code replicating the Outlook email in a Response window which uses SMTP to send emails with PDF attachment. 

Emails are getting delivered without any issues when the attached PDF is generated via PB code (DW to PDF). 

Issue is when a PDF is brought down/Saved from OnBase. Email is getting delivered and shows the attached PDF, but the PDF is not opening as expected. Looking at the file explorer, PDF file size is 24kb, but the file in the email is 743 bytes.

Any ideas/solutions?

Hi

The only thing I can think of is that the PDFs have not got the font embedded, they then may not render correctly depending upon the client.

Apart from that, as you say PDFs produced from PB are ok, I can only assume the issue is with the software producing the PDF files.

So it would appear that the issue is somewhere in the saving/reading from OnBase. a PDF created by SafeasPDF in a DW is correct, but when written to OnBase and Re-red it is corrupted.



How are you saving/reading from OnBase?

I don't know how you are getting the PDF from OnBase but if you are getting the file and then saving to the file system to attach it then you might be running into a timing issue. It could be sending the file before it was done writing the whole thing to the file system. Maybe code a FileOpen/FileRead/FileClose check before sending it?
