It seems there is an issue with the MailSession object and a specific version of Office365 Outlook (Semi Annual Channel Version 1908 (Build 11929.20776) 32 bit).

The Microsoft Outlook dialog (A program is trying to send an email message on your behalf...) does not open, and MailSession.mailSend returns mailReturnFailure!.

When I changed the windows email account from type Exchange, to use regular imap/pop3 it works.

Anyone else who experienced this issue, and know how to resolve it?

Hi,

The only times I've seen that messagebox is when:

1) my antivirus is not up to date

2) running on a server. See the attached zip file with registry entries that might solve your problem. It did for one of our customers.

About the Dialog/Messagebox not showing on the specific version:
Can you update your Office?
I'm using:
Office 365 MSO 16.0.12730.20144 32-bit
                             11929.20776 (your version)

I'm not totally sure, but I think your 11929.20776 number corresponds to my 12730.20144. If so, then your version is a bit older than the one I'm using. I found 365 to have been behaving wrongly several times in the last year or so and then these problems would spontaneously disappear. Probably due to bug fixes MS is doing on either Office or Windows.

regards.

I see. Well if it only doesn't work well with that version, my guess is that's is a MS bug.

Setting Cached Exchange Mode active on the email account solved it.
