Hi Naidu;
   FYI ...

  1. You do not need to uninstall the previous IM release as all IM "Major" releases can co-exist on the same PC together.
  2. Please note that PSR files are IM release dependent. Therefore opening a PSR created in IM version X, may NOT open in IM version X-1 or X+1 releases.
    • When you upgrade or downgrade IM versions - then you need to rebuild the PSR files to be 100% compatible with the current IM release ( although, the "may" work).
    • Note that if this compatibility between IM versions is a requirement, then I would recommend using the PDF file format instead.
  3. Did you download the IM 2022 installer via the "Offline" method and then run the Offline installer "As Admin"?

1) how to open existing PSR files in 2022 which are created in 2017 R3 ? because we have uninstalled 2017 R3 version from user. as per huntsman policy we should go with n-1 version.

2) how to launch infomaker 2022 when opening PSR file  in 2022 ?

3) Did you download the IM 2022 installer via the "Offline" method and then run the Offline installer "As Admin"?

   Ans : I downloded 2022 offline version and created a package and pushed to user system via company portal and user installed from company portal.

Hi Naidu;

1) In the IM help it does document the PSR file format & it's version dependency. So it may open in 2022. You just need to try it.

If the PSR does not open in IM 2022, then it must be regenerated in IM 2022.

2) During an install "as Admin" the installer should have updated the mapping in the registry.

If the IM users did not do that, then you can force the mapping update by using the mouse RMB on the PSR file and then selecting the "Open With" option in the resulting pop-up menu. Then select the IM 2022 EXE and then also agree to the "Always Open" prompt. That should then update the Registry with that mapping. From that point onward, double clicking on a PSR should open it in IM 2022.

3) The IM user running the IM Installer must be running it in ADMIN Mode to allow it to update the registry

The offline install route is great!

What I'm wondering though is if the IM users ran the install in "admin" mode as it needs to update the local registry for the PSR mapping.

After the fact, you can force the mapping update by using the mouse RMB on the PSR file and then selecting the "Open With" option in the resulting pop-up menu. Then select the IM 2022 EXE and then also agree to the "Always Open" prompt. That should then update the Registry with that mapping. From that point onwards, double clicking on a PSR should open it in IM 2022.

Hi Chris,

 Thank you for clarifying and also having few more questions. we have deadline on monday to complete the testing process. Please let us know your availability to setup a call to sort out all the issues which is mandatory

1) when we are trying below option from user system we are not seeing the "Always open" prompt option as we open PSR file first time.

2) after opening PSR file in 2022 version, we are seeing "Database profiles" window and it is not closing, when we click "close" option for 4 to 5 times then it is closing and we can see report is opening. so question is  do we have to select database profile ?

3) how to update the registry and what to check and where to check in registry ?

4) we will not install 2022 version manually , we will provide offline version to packaging team and they will deploy via company portal. user will download  from company portal as it is a process for huntsman

The IM IDE 2022 Rx IDE *requires* a default DB connection. This was probably setup in IM 2017 Rx. You could have just imported the current IM 2017 Rx DB profile(s) into IM 2022 - but, this *must* be done *before* you uninstall that old version. Now, you will have to manually setup a valid DB Connection in IM 2022 as a default in order to get rid of the DB Profile prompt.

The only way to know (as this is specific to your environment) would be to check your previous IM version's setup.

Hi Naidu;

I suspect that is because they did not logout of their IM 2017 session before that software was deleted.

You can log then out from here: https://account.appeon.com/logout-user/im

Note that you *must* be the IM license Admin to perform the above logout operation.

If you are not the License Admin for your organization, then yo must contact them for this.

Hi Naidu;

That type of direct contact request would be in response to a product "bug".

What you are asking about in this thread is considered "consulting" on "how to" product use.

For that type of support, Appeon recommends that you contact one of our "consulting partners" in your locale ...

Hi Naidu;

A PSR file includes A) the Report Definition Source (in the IM version that the PSR was created in) and B) the actual Data for that report. All in one file.

I suspect that the "Rows Retrieved" is displayed when the report definition is newly loaded and then as IM is extracting the data for the report from the PSR file.

The count should start at zero and end when all the data is present on the screen (aka report) when each PSR file is opened. If not and the number keeps increasing on each PSR file opened, then that would be a "bug".

Hi Naidu;

1) Open the PSR file in the IM IDE. Then select the FILE menu, then select the SaveAs menu. From there - the PDF file save will be one of the options.

2) Map the PSR file type in MS-Windows to the IM 2022 EXE. Then double-click the PSR file.

Hi Naidu;

1) Try opening the old PSR file in IM2022. Then from the File=>SaveAs menu, select the PSR option. The newly saved PSR file will then be in IM2022 format.

2) Alternatively, run the same report object in IM2022. Then from the File=>SaveAs menu, select the PSR option.

Hello Chris,

This is actually a bug when moving from 2017 to 2022. After successfull installation when we tried to open old PSR files in 2017 we are not able to open

in either in 2017/2022, before uninstallation we were able to view PSR files in 2017version.

we have installed below exe's from these 2 folders, after that  2017 psr files are not opening in 2017 R3.

1) Are we missing anything related to PowerBuilder runtime versions?

2) Can anyone from your team can join to fix the issues we are facing in user system ?

3) Do we have multiple runtime version for PowerBuilder to open 2017 psr files in 2022 ? if yes, please provide installation file and steps?

Hi Naidu;

  No, this is not a product bug. The O/S has remembered that you wnated to default to IM 2017 Rx and will continue to so so, even if you remove the 2017 version.

  The way to fix that (after any IM version update) is to retrain the O/S by ...

  • Right mouse the PSR file.
  • From the resulting pop-up menu, select the "Open With" menu item.
  • In the next resulting dialog choose IM 2022 and make sure that the "always use this App..." check box is checked!
  • Then the next time that the IM user double-clicks any PSR file, the O/S will launch IM 2022 and the resulting PSR report will appear in that IDE version.

HTH

HI Naidu;

That install looks correct (with no Demo Database installed).

However, you still need to then A) Define a DB connection and B) Use the OpenWith procedure (that i already posted here in this thread) to change the O/S default IM version opening of PSR files.

Regards ... Chris

PS: Once you remap the PSR=>IM Version as I have shown you in this thread. You can search your Registry for that mapping. Once found, you can then export that mapping as a REG file that you can then give to your IM users. ;-)
