Windows 10, 64 bit VM
PBv12.1, b 6158

This never happened on windows 7, but on my <sarcasm>NEW and IMPROVED</sarcasm> Windows 10 VM, every time ANYTHING happens in the PowerBuilder IDE, I get a sound. They are driving me insane!

How can I turn these sounds OFF??????

And yes, I've gone through all of the PERSONALIZE/NOTIFICATION settings. I even turned everything off - and the PB sounds STILL came through!

Thank You

Another thing you can do if nothing works, is to find the annoying wav file by searching on them in the windows directory

After that, rename them (or edit them and set the sound to nothing) and see if the torture has stopped.

good luck

The problem is that I DO want to hear a notification when I get a Teams or a Skype call - those are usually urgent.

Thanks for responding!

yw, So then just get rid of the one wav file(chimes.wav?) that bothers you (by overwriting it with silence or renaming it, see what works). For you skype / teams calls, make sure to assign a different sound.

regards.

"They are driving me insane!"

Sorry you're experiencing a bout of sonic-induced madness, Olan! It reminded me of a true story:

As a teenager (many years ago), I was arguing about who-knows-what with my mother while she was preparing dinner. Frustrated and unable to persuade her to my viewpoint, I blurted out "You drive me CRAZY!". She turned her head, looked at me over the top of her glasses and said: "Hmph! A short drive!" embarassed

I hope your drive takes much longer. Good luck bending Windows 10 to your will.

If it's just the DB Painter, use SQLDeveloper (oracle) or "SqlServer Management Studio" or "DB Beaver" (anything else) for your database stuff.

In the old days I used the painter for everything, but now I find the DB painter less useful and hardly use it.
