Resolved How to get ODBC Data Source to appear in Profiles\Add Data Source

Howdy!

I am trying to use a 32 bit ODBC Data Source in the PowerServer Web Toolkit, but I cannot get my Data Sources to appear there.

I have tried adding 32 bit sources (SQL Server 11.0) to my User DSN and System DSN, but neither appear in the toolkit when I go to Data Source Profiles/Add... I select ODBC Driver, but in the ODBC Data Source the only DSN I see are the SQL Anywhere CustDB and Demo DSN.

I have not been able to find anything in the documentation about how to set up your own SQL Server DSN and then using them in the PowerServer Web Toolkit.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Hi Tom;

   Make sure that you declare your DSN's a SYSTEM based ones - not User.

Even when it's a System DSN it's not appearing. Is SQL Server 11.0 the wrong driver for the ODBC DSN?

I 'm facing the same problem. The only way I found to show the DSN in the list was setting up a 64-bit ODBC System DSN. But I'm still not able to connect the database... I don't know what to do anymore, in the System DSN the ODBC is connecting the DB successfully, but in the datasource selection whn I test not work....

Remember that in the PowerServer TOOLKIT App configuration, the DB Connection test will need to use the 32bit ODBC connection declaration.

The Data Source appears, now, but things are still not working. I will mark this as resolved and open another thread about all the 32/64/Toolkit/Server/connection/DWSQL stuff... ugh...

Hi Chris - Yes, the 32 bit System ODBC does, in fact, work in the toolkit's Database Type Profile Configuration. It's all set up and it connects. I just cannot get it to appear in Data Source Profiles/Add.

Ahhhhh ... yes, if you are trying to add (create) a PowerServer DB Profile (aka Data Source) while in the midst of creating a PS Toolkit profile (vs just selecting an existing PS data source) - then you must have a 64bit System based ODBC profile defined.

Run the 64 bit ODBC Admin and create a SS DSN. Then you should be able to create a 64 DataSource in PS via AEM. The the 64bit DSN should appear in your ODBC lists for PS.

are you sure you installed 32 bit powerserver?  (why is this even offered anymore?)

if it is 64 bit powerserver than setup 64 bit dsn  system connections.

Both the PB IDE & and its PS Toolkit are 32 bit - even though PS is 64 bit.

Tom, you are going into the db profiles tab of the toolkit configuration in powerbuilder?

or are you talking about the 'data source profiles' tab? If it is the data source profile tab, then you need to connect using the AEM website to set those up on powerserver.
