I have a composite datawindow that appears fine when I run it directly but in an app that retrieves it and saves it as a PDF, blank pages get inserted.  The first page is blank, then the detail shows on page 2, page 3 is blank, etc...

Any tips would be appreciated.....driving me nuts.

Jay

Sorry

Runing PB 2019 R3 on Windows 10

No special PB.INI

Source dw are Release 19 but the nested reports may be an earlier version.

I've always just used SAVEAS(PDF!) and thats what I'm currently using.  I will look into Export.PDF

Hope some of that helps but I'll look at Export

Thanks

Are you using NativePDF or Ghostscript? If Ghostscript, what version? Exactly what version & build number of PowerBuilder?

Hi, Jay -

What version/release/build of PB are you using? There have been changes to this feature with nearly every release since it was introduced in PB 2017.

Are you explicitly setting any of the NativePDF properties (see the PB Help topics that begin with "Export.PDF.NativePDF")? In particular, the default paper size for NativePDF is A4. When printed on letter-size paper, this will result in producing a blank sheet between every printed sheet.

Open the PDF in Acrobat Reader to view the properties and check the page size.

I suggest you spend a little time and examine all of the NativePDF settings.

Best regards, John

Hi Jay;

  Can you tell us ...

  1. What O/S version & build is your App using?
  2. What PB version & build is your App using (IDE & Runtime)?
  3. Do you have a custom PB.INI file with your App's EXE disabling DS "handles"
  4. Is the DC & DS sharing the same default printer?
  5. If you edit the DWO source, does the "Release=???" parameter in the source match your PB version?
  6. Are there special Modify() commands executed on the DC vs the DS to control PDF generation?

Regards ... Chris
