I am having an issue where I cannot seem to access the datasource of my crosstab after i initially create the crosstab. This appears to be a new issue unless i am missing some combination of settings as i was able to re-enter the data source after saving previously.

Has any one else had this issue?

My only issue is the tiny crosstab property window:

I agree. The property window should be resizeable, but are you able to click the Data Source icon and edit your original query?

I am having the same issue as the original question posted here. I am using InfoMaker Version 2022 Build 1892. I had been working on a CrossTab report in the ReportPainter a couple weeks ago with no issues. I just returned to it, but when I open it in ReportPainter, the "Data Source..." icon is ghosted. Normally, I can click on that icon to get to the QueryPainter and modify the SQL that is used to generate the data for the report. I can access the "Crosstab..." properties window and modify those, but no way to get to the original SQL query.

I basically had to keep creating cross tabs until i found some combination that would allow me to edit the data-source in infomaker. Crosstabs are definately finicky !

When you say "keep creating cross tabs," do you mean modifying the definition? I can't seem to get the "Data Source" icon to un-ghost so that I can click on it and edit my query.

Try. Edit Source and modify the query, if that works in your use case. We too face similar problem, and the only solution we found is to re-create the cross tab dw [ in PB ].

I don't have access to PB. This is an InfoMaker thread, but I keep getting replies to do things in PB. What am I missing?

Hi Neil;

I have been working with InfoMaker since v1.0 and never had this issue with a CrossTab report. Have you tried resetting your IM layout?

BTW: What version of IM are you using?

Regards ... Chris

Do you mean you cannot get to the built-in SQL Painter to edit the SELECT for your Crosstab DW?

That is certainly a surprise! What DBMS are you using? I could try to repro on my laptop if I have same DBMS. (my databases are MS SQL 2019, SQLAny 16 + 17, and PostgreSQL 12)

/Michael

Yes, Micahel, that 'si exactly what I mean. I can open up the database painter for my CT DW, but I cannot change anything from there. I >>> MUST <<< use the Edit Source option in order to make changes.

PBv12.1, b7055.

Crosstab datawindows are finicky. There have been times when the only way I could access a crosstab dw is to use EDIT SOURCE.

Using EDIT SOURCE is the only way to modify the structure ot the SQL of a crosstab dwo after it has been saved, as far as I am aware (up through PBv12.x).

That's not very helpful, I know. Sorry.

You cannot be editing the DataWindow in the (visual) DataWindow Painter. Right-click on the DataWindow in the System Tree pane and you'll "Edit Source" listed immediately after "Edit". This will open the source code in the PB text editor.

I did not recognize this question (and your follow-on) was concerning InfoMaker. My apologies for that oversight.

Rather than continuing to clutter this thread, would you please ask your question again in a new, separate question?
