Good Morning from Germany...

PB2022 Build 1878 Aug 26 2022

I have the following issue by compiling a large PB2022 Project:

Starting Deploy Project 64bit Full Rebuild

Compiler starts

Building type ....

Inspecting...

Building type ..

Regenerating ....

(Tab unsupported Power Server and a Warning Tab appears)

Writing ...

Inspecting Application Libraries ...

Then the IDE is crashing and closing

Same crash trying to deploy a client project

In PB2021 there was no problem. Is there a LOG to find out the reason? All libraries seam to be rebuild and have a current timestamp.

thanks for any device

Stephan

We are running into issues deploying via the IDE if we let PB2022 generate fresh new PBLs (a feature I was excited to see in PB2022) from source. I looked at the file dates on the PBLs after the IDE crashes as a hint at what PBL it was working on at the time of crash. I deleted all the PBLs and then let PB2022 build new ones. Then I did an optimize on the one PBL that seemed to cause the crash and now the deploy runs without crashing. I'm not sure why an optimize would be needed on a PBL that was freshly generated from source.

Hi Stephan;

 After migrating your App to PB 2022... Did you then  optimize all your PBLs before trying a deployment?

I optimized and did deploy... same crash. Someone in this Q&A was using pbc220 or pbautobuild to get a logfile.. Maybe I try this. Or manually rebuild every PBL before doing deploy?

Hi Chris,

using pbc220.exe the compiler runs though without crashing. The resulting exe works fine. Also running PBAutoBuild220.exe and deploying a client, Only a external .log file with 0 Bytes length, which was listed in the external file list, caused an error message during installing by the launcher, but the installation runs.

still looking for the cause of closing the IDE while running the compiler.

best regards

Stephan

Hi Stephan;

I am super glad that the PBC220 external compiler worked! I also suspect that the PBAutoBuild220 external compiler will probably work as well. That would be a good test if you have the time as the PBC is being replaced by the PBAutoBuild utility going forward.

I would suggest though opening a support ticket for this IDE compilation issue. Especially, if you can provide Appeon Engineering with a VM with your App to test with.

BTW: are all the PB developers having this IDE compilation crash issue?

Regards ... Chris
