Hello.

1) Is there a possibility in the CloudPro version of PB not to use the cloud and not to buy a Production Server? That is, convert the existing PowerBuilder Windows application to a Web application, place it on the our IIS server, continue to develop it, but without a cloud?

2)In general, how difficult is it to convert a Windows application to the Web? Does it usually takes months or less?

3)Is the future development of Web application a common development like in Windows applications and then automatically converts all created objects for Web, or is the development process for the Web something different? ( For example, do we need to do part of the development in C#?)

Sorry for the questions, we have no experience in web development.

Hi Armeen,

We have read the document on PowerServer 2021 and it mentions that they key trade off in PS 2021 is that we will lose Andorid and iOS deployment. We are currently developing an Android App with PS 2020 that can be used with Zebra handhelds. Will PowerServer Mobile be supported beyond 2021 in its current form?

in terms of PowerServer 2021 licenses;

If we need to install on several servers, how can they be purchased, what would be the price per server?

#1 The CloudPro package of PowerBuilder includes various tools so you can develop according to a cloud architecture.  But that doesn't mean you have to deploy to a cloud provider.  You can deploy your app to basically anything, even a traditional Windows server on a physical machine.

Yes, you must purchase a production license of the server runtime .NET libraries.

Please note that if you want to deploy client/server instead of with cloud architecture and don't want to spend money, you might benefit from the new PowerClient that is included free with all editions of PowerBuilder: https://docs.appeon.com/whitepapers/Whitepaper_Automating_On-Premise_Deployment_of_PowerBuilder_Apps.pdf

#2 It typically takes months and the work consists of rewriting unsupported features and optimizing code for performance.

#3 PowerServer is a "deployment" solution rather than a "migration" solution.  So this means you keep maintaining your app in PowerBuilder using PowerScript and re-deploy changes to the PowerServer.  Please watch this video it will help you to understand: https://youtu.be/P3oRzFaWBRc

According to the paper

PowerServer 2021 will implement automatically

1.The MVC; for datawindows; datastore, and embedded Sql, Class, interface and controller;

2. On the PowerBuilder side the respective request, get, retrieve etc

is this correct?
