Hi

I work for a small financial services company, We have our own suite of desktop client server applications (not web based) that we developed ourselves (c#/ Java/ Powerbuilder frontend, SQL Server backend).

Apologies for clueless sounding question but:

In order to free up our limited resources to develop code etc rather than server/database admin etc. Is it possible to have the databases (Live/Dev & Test) in the cloud but the code on our own network ?

Or is it better to have both front end and back-end in the cloud ? I presume front end in cloud would not be a great otion as the applications are not web based. This is purely for our own use - we don't sell the software.

Thanks !

I certainly can't see why you couldn't have the DBs in the cloud. Of course response times will be different than if they were local!

And I agree, since the front end isn't web-based, having it on the cloud probably wouldn't make much sense.
