PS 2022 build 1898 (i think)

The customization of the cloud app launcher is fantastic.  Being able to sign it and change a few things is really great.

couple questions/observations:

1. when does the launcher changes take affect?  I had the original one installed and the new one doesn't seem to be pulled down from the server.  I checked the directories that i changed it to, and they did not create.

2.  Will the customization be modifiable in the future?  The code signing part for example requires passwords which can change.  Having this updatable would be very helpful. I would also very much like to be able to see what the setting are for a saved one.

3. I think this is awkwardly placed in the IDE too.  Creating a new one should not be stuck in the middle of that screen.  Probably needs its own menu item or its own project.

Hi Mike,

Glad to know you like this feature, customization of cloud app launcher. Regarding your questions, please find below our responses.

1. when does the launcher changes take affect?  I had the original one installed and the new one doesn't seem to be pulled down from the server.  I checked the directories that i changed it to, and they did not create.

If you upload a new launcher that is under the same version as the original one, please note that the new launcher actually replaces the original one at the web server.  The launcher name at the server is still the same as the original one (the launcher .exe name has no relevancy with the profile name), that may be why you have not noticed the change. Anyway, after you upload a new launcher, for the clients that have not installed the launcher before, they will download the new one; For the clients that have already installed the launcher, because the version is unchanged, the clients will still use the installed one.

The above rules are for the standard version of the launcher. If you talk about the public version of the launcher, the story is different, because the public version requires the administrator to manually download and install the launcher.

If the above information cannot solve your doubt, please provide the steps to reproduce the problem. Then let's figure out what's behind.

2.  Will the customization be modifiable in the future?  The code signing part for example requires passwords which can change.  Having this updatable would be very helpful. I would also very much like to be able to see what the setting are for a saved one.

In 2022 R2 we plan to provide the launcher profile management function. So it would be possible to view the existing profile settings, modify some settings if necessary, and then re-upload the launcher.  Yes, in 2022 R2, it would be possible to see what the settings are for a saved profile.

3. I think this is awkwardly placed in the IDE too.  Creating a new one should not be stuck in the middle of that screen.  Probably needs its own menu item or its own project.

Yes we have seen the problem too. So in 2022 R2, the window is changed to be a dedicated "Launcher profile management" window.

Best regards, Julie
