Hi Team,

Greetings!

Recently Chrome browser was upgraded to version 98 and post that the PowerServer 2021 deployed apps are getting triggered multiple times at the same time.

Upon analysis we found that the browser is automatically making an additional PreFlight request because of CORS specs, with the same url that is for the local service running on the system to launch the apps(http://127.0.0.1:26568/Setup.ico/..........). This results in two instances of the exe's and one results in error due to locked runtime files and other succeeds.

Is there any way to stop these PreFlight requests or any other alternatives like by implementing some changes in files etc.

Hi Nilotpal,

We have fixed the issue, please refer to the article below to solve it. Please note that this resolution applies to PowerBuilder 2021 build 1506 only. For previous versions, please upgrade to PowerBuilder 2021 build 1506 then adopt this resolution.

THANK YOU Nilotpal for your extensive research!

You saved me lots of time as I was beginning to struggle with this double startup.

Unfortunately ZhaoKai's suggestion to set startup without background service will kill my environment, as it is deployed to CITRIX and background service is a must.

And unfortunately upgrading to 1506 will make sysadmins anger, as they will need to reinstall the updated version of CloudApp service + launcher on each CITRIX env.

So, I will have my bad days ahead, but at least I know where this issue comes from!

Thanks for reporting this problem! We reproduced it on our end and will do further research to figure it out. We will keep you posted on the progress.

I have not found a way to disable the preflight request. Please work around the issue for now by going to PowerServer project > Client Deployment tab to set the startup mode to 'Startup without background service', please refer to the articles below for more details.

Thanks for looking into this.

Just tried as per your suggestion and it is working.



The only problem without service mode is that the app startup is somewhat inconsistent like sometimes it starts immediately on clicking a button and sometimes after multiple attempts. In rare cases, need to refresh the page to start the app. This we faced earlier and to resolve this deployed apps with background service.



Please let us know in case of any updates as we really want to go with the background service mode, it is neat and seamless and starts the apps immediately with great user experience.

Please try upgrading to build 1506, update the Cloud App Launcher on your Web server with the new one, and see if problem goes away. We did some enhancements in build 1506. https://www.appeon.com/company/news/powerbuilder-2021-mr-1506-released.html
