Hi,

We have PowerBuilder License Server running on Windows 2008 server.  Since 2008 is end of life support, can we install PowerBuilder License Server on Windows 2016 server?  Given the PB version, do I have to go to SAP for the software or Appeon will be able to provide it to me?

We are running PB 12.6 Build 4081

Thanks,

Sameer

Hi Samir;

  The PB License Server has never been updated in well over a decade and it's now also deprecated. The wasPB license server was originally designed for a W2000 server. About the last server that you could install the license server on was 2008. Even then, you sometimes had to do a few tricks installing it like booting into "safe" mode.

  I'm not sure that if anyone has tried newer server OS versions successfully but, the best way would be to try the installation on W2014, W2016 or W2019 and see if it works.

Regards ... Chris

Hi Sameer,

You need to contact SAP. What Appeon received and developed further into PB 2017 and beyond did not include SYSAM. So Appeon added another license mgmt. tool.
