I have PowerBuilder 11.5 application which is using TFS 2010 currently hosted on Windows 2008 server.

Since Windows 2008 server support is getting expired, need to migrate teh build server to Windows 2016 for which TFS 2019 is required as current TFS version does not work on Win2016 server.

Question: Can PB 11.5 connect with TFS 2019? If yes, which MSSCCI version to be used? If no, which PB version is MUST to have to connect with TFS 2019?

Thanks in advance! ANy quick reply is appreciated as we are stuck with application further build creation and release.

For TFS 2019 what source code repository are you using?  TFVC or Git?

MSSCCI would be the interface you use. PowerBuilder 11.5 supports this.

Thanks Armeen! Could you please confirm if MSSCCI would support PowerBuilder 11.5 with TFS2019?

It does support PowerBuilder 11.5 and TFS2010 but since we migrated to newer TFS version, I am not sure if PB11.5 with MSSCCI (same version) will be supported. Your confirmation will help.

AFAIK recent versions of TFS client no longer support MSSCCI. Instead, use TFC client for TFS 2013 to provide the API that PB is using. TFS server can be newer version that its client though I'm no specialist on TFS clients and servers version compatibility.

PowerBuilder 11.5 was not a version released by Appeon so we have not tested it.  I think you will need to test this for yourself or wait and see if some other customer that is still on PB 11.5 has tested with TFS2019.

But just keep in mind PowerBuilder 11.5 is no longer supported, it was not designed to work with Windows 10, it was not designed to work with newer versions of database, and it is missing a ton of new features: https://www.appeon.com/developers/powerbuilder-release-history.html

My .02 cents is if the app you are working on is at all important, doesn't seem prudent to stay on PowerBuilder 11.5 but upgrade everything else in your stack, such as TFS 2019.

Hi Ameen - Yes I know that PB11.5 is not supported version and we should migrate it.

Could you confirm if PB2019 will definitely work with TFS2019 on Windows Server 2016?

PowerBuilder is installed to Windows Server 2016 or do you mean a TFS is installed to the server?
