Resolved Can see folders, but cannot access?

Hello 

My user is set up correctly in Apperon 2017 R2, and she can see the items from the given .PBL file, but cannot access them. Each folder upon clicking them just gives out a windows prompt noise, and no other error message. 

My gut feeling is th3ere must be a rights issues, but after inspecting all the rights to remote folders etc, all is well.

User has full admin rights to the laptop.

What about a check on pre-requisites for Appeon Infomaker?

Have you checked if everything is properly installed? .Net Framework, C++ runtime, etc.

Hi Miguel

Yep, all items were double checked and all apps seem fine. There are other users who use the shared PBL, who see no issues at all. I think my next step will be to RDP to the laptop, and see if i can run the program up under my admin acct, but with the users Apperon portal details.

That will rule out a profile issue.

I figure it is Windows, but with no error messages, feels like i am dancing in the dark a bi!

yw, yes the best thing is to see it for yourself. Users lots of times don't mention 10 previous error messages when reporting the 11th :)

May sound silly, but have you checked whether the .PBL file is read-only protected?

To me it sounds like you can look into the .PBL file but your InfoMaker IDE cannot open the objects inside it.

This is exactly the case. I have reinstalled everything, but still the problem persists. PBL file is ok, and i have added the user to it with full access. Not sure what to do next?

Hi Effin, please check and confirm that the specific .PBL file is NOT READ-ONLY protected from the user having issues. Also, can other users open objects from the same file?

Hi Eflin;

   If the IM Libraries are on a network drive, then the issue could be related to MS-Windows Network privilege and/or an Active Directory setting for that user.

Checked! AD is ok for the user, and all others who use the network share. Elevated her rights to the PBL today, but no joy.

The file and setup works for a number of users already, but for this one user it just will not open up the folders?

Exactly, "Run as administrator" is not the same as being a user with administrator rights. Thanks for clearing that up. I should have mentioned it, since even our network administrator makes the same mistake in thinking it's the same :)

A program that is run as administrator cannot access network shares that were assigned a drive letter at normal level and vice-versa.

Ensure you have a PBT file that includes the targeted report files. This one is called "reports.pbt".

Example:

Save Format v3.0(19990112)
@begin Projects
@end;
appname "reports";
applib "clnt_rpt_v10.pbl";
LibList "clnt_rpt_v10.pbl;production_reports_v42.pbl";
type "pb";

Hi Miguel

In Infomaker there is no right click to open? See screenshot.

It is these folders in Infomaker we cannot access. None of the folders can be accessed?

The right click and open was only in case you were trying to open a folder in the windows file explorer. Sorry, I didn't realize you wanted to do this in Infomaker.

So tell us more about the "noise" you are getting when you double click?

If you are referring to "clicking on folders" from the windows File Explorer, then see what happens when she right-clicks and chooses Open.
