drop down datawindows already scrolls based on what you type.

there may be some timing issues you are seeing - unless you type fast, the search will start the search over at the first character on each keystroke.  If you type fast then it will search for a match on all the characters.  I believe the timing issue is a bug - it was probably never adjusted for today's machines.
