We have a client receiving this error message frequently when switching platforms:

faulting module name PBVM170.DLL version 17.2.0.1858, exception code: 0xc0000005, Fault offset: 0x00070e65, faulting process id: 0x2dbc

What can I ask the client about the environment what would not be causing this?  Is it running out of memory, window xx version, etc.?

What does this error mean?

Many thanks, Brent

Hi.

Don't know what the error means. But this king of errors usually write to the Event Log (application)... Of course the information there is hard to be used, but you may find some more details.

Does that crash occurs randomly? What do you mean when saying "switching platforms"?

Andreas.

I am attempting to gather some additional information from the client and will post that when they provide it.

Thank you for the response, and will share as soon as possible

I have the same question as Andreas.

Also, although we are always happy to try and answer non-support questions here regardless of the version of the Appeon product(s) you are using, please be aware that PB 2017 R3 applications are not supported on either Windows 11 or any edition of Windows Server above 2016.

Finally, due to its age, only Premium Support is now available for PB 2017, and it will reach End-of-Life (EOL) after July 31, 2025, so you may wish to consider migrating your app to a newer Long-Term-Support (LTS) version.
