Hi PB Experts

Is PowerBuilder 2022 R3 compatible with Visual Studio 2015? We are planning to upgrade PowerBuilder from PB 2019 R3 to 2022 R3 version. From our current PowerBuilder 2019 R3 application, we are calling an oracle proc/package through which we are triggering the VC++ code to generate EDI files to be sent to other applications/customers. Currently the Visual studio version we have is MS Visual studio 2015. Since we are planning to migrate to Appeon PB 2022 R3, I wanted to make sure that the interfaces will work as-is, though there is no direct connectivity between PowerBuilder and VC++ code.

Hi, Sai -

Please know that PB 2022 R3 is built using the VC++ 2022 compiler and therefore, the runtime DLL's. I cannot say for sure, but this may affect your ability to run your EDI-generating software built on Visual Studio 2015. Possibly not, since the EDI software is being executed from an Oracle package. Only testing will tell you. Can you not recompile the other app using a newer/current version of Visual Studio?

Best regards, John

Adding to what John said, you really just need to do a quick test because we can't say for sure. Even if it works for somebody else there may be specific things about your C++ code that causes problem. After you do test, please report back what you discover. Thanks.
