Hello All,

We were setting up APPEON Web environment in AWS cloud hosting, and the powerbuilder application was supported by pfc classes.

My problem is, a random error would be prompted as below, when we tested by retrieving records involving several TABS and data windows.

After investigation, we found it was caused by AWS Web ACLs, with error logged as below,

<source ip> /servlet/axdispatcher.aspx AWS#AWSManagedRulesCommonRuleSet#CrossSiteScripting_BODY BLOCK

<source ip> /servlet/axdispatcher.aspx AWS#AWSManagedRulesSQLiRuleSet#SQLi_BODY BLOCK

The issues can be resolved if we turned off the rules stated, but it leads to security concerns.

So may we have advices on the above issues? Thanks in advance.

With such old version of the product, you may have hard time to use advanced cloud features.  We are revamping the architecture of PowerServer 2021 to be cloud native and support .NET Core, which would inherently allow you to take advantage of all the cloud features including serverless.

If you insist on not upgrading to PowerServer 2021, you might be able to get around this specific problem through configuration changes.  You would have to consult with Amazon why this feature is blocking the request.

Thanks for your suggestion, so where we could have confirmed information which PowerServer version can work with AWS cloud platform, and solve the random issues we stated?

You will need to wait for PowerServer 2021 to have "confirmed information", but I think your current version can work and your problem is the Amazon Web ACL is not configured correctly. You would need to consult with Amazon how to properly configure.

Hi Chung;

   Are you using the real PDF libraries? There was an old PFC "like" framework in "Appeon for PB" (before it became PowerServer). However, that framework is now deprecated.

Also, "Appeon for PS" is long time at EOL.

Regards ... Chris

Thanks for your information. We are using pfc framework, and some features about PDF were introduced with APPEON for PowerBuilder 2015. And may I know if you suggest we should update our library of pfc framework, in order to solve the random error we got?
