I now, there are bigger problems with Powerbuilder. But there is one small thing that annoys me for years in a lot of Powerbuilder versions with different WIndows versions.

Perhaps only I have the problem or somebody can tell me how I can stop this strange behavior.

In the windowpainter: I have a datawindow object in a window. If I open the connected datawindow directly via "Modify DataWindow" I'm not able to select a column directly. I always have to click into one of the property fields at the right side. After that I can select a column.

If I open the datawindow directly from the Sytsem Tree everything runs like expected.

This is not a big deal; but It's annoying.

Greetings

Roy

Hi,

I have this problem in every PowerBuilder Version.

The only solution is to correct the arrangement of the elements in the datawindowpainter.

On some arrangements we have this problem on every machine.

I made some more testing:

It seems to me that it only happen if the layout of the datawindow painter contains only the object-tab and the preview-tab (with the preview-tab "tabbed" behind the object-tab) and the object-tab is the active tab after opening the windows.

If one other window (like column specifications) is part of the layout, it works like it should.

Strange! Can somebody confirme this behaviour?

It never happened to me, until since a few weeks ago I closed the xml part on the dw, since it only uses space and I've never used it.

I since then have to click somewhere in the column list to be able afterwards to click on a column in the design.

So YES, confirmed it must have something to do with the layout.

MiguelL

Hi Roy; I have never had this issue with any PB version. However, there were some reported issues on this in the PB 12.x series of releases. They seemed to be related to running PB on an Intel processor & having background services running like TeamViewer, Touch Screen, etc. Issues like this should have been addressed in PB 2017. Regards ... Chris

What version/build are you running? I have never experienced the issue you describe. I never upgraded from 12.5 to 12.6 but it surely works with PB 2017.
