I'm on the latest and greatest version of PowerBuilder 2022 R3 Build 3356.

I'm attempting to demo the pbtutor application running in the PowerServer environment. I created a new PowerServer object in the pbtutor.pbl.

I'm literally trying to assign the icon file to the shortcut icon. But I know I need to add the icon to the External Files section. Specifically, the "Files preloaded in uncompressed format."

When I attempt to add a folder that has the icon file, I'm finding that I can't even navigate beyond the folder where the application itself resides.

I've done this before, so it almost feels like that something functionally happened within the IDE?

I thought it might be an administrator issue, so I tried running PowerBuilder under administrator privileges. Still running into the same issues.

Any ideas on if I'm doing anything wrong would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, that's an IDE bug.

or maybe a way to prevent issues at runtime.  In older versions, there was a problem at runtime when the images were in another folder.  so at least this forces you to put the images in that folder.

builds R3 3356 and R2 2828

I was thinking that you could do it in PB 2022 R2. I wonder if we are looking at something they have done to redesign how this area works?

Hi Jeff;

 Can you tell us ...

  • Are you using Kestrel or IIS Web server?
  • Are you deploying to your local or remote Web server?
  • How are you deploying the App to your IIS instance?
  • Is the App icon file located in the Apps workspace?
  • Did you assign the app icon to the PS app in the application painter without any "pathing"?
  • What Window O/S version(s) are you using?

Regards ... Chris

Per your questions Chris....

Are you using Kestrel or IIS Web server? - Local Kestrel Server (Running within the IDE)

Are you deploying to your local or remote Web server? - Local

How are you deploying the App to your IIS instance? - Not deploying to IIS instance :)

Is the App icon file located in the Apps workspace? - It was not. I'm literally converting the pbtutor app to the cloud locally on my laptop.

Did you assign the app icon to the PS app in the application painter without any "pathing"? - I couldn't select the icon until I placed the images into the Solutions directory. All images were one level above in the Tutorial directory where the PBL is located. I was able to add additional folders in PB 2022 R2.

What Window O/S version(s) are you using? - Windows 11
