Resolved Similar look to Windows Classic style recommendation

Hi,

I'm currently doing an Impact Analysis on our existing PB 12.5 apps running on Win 7 to go to a Win 10 platform.  At first, we are just looking to port the run times to Win 10.  We do not yet have PB 2017 but it may come within the next year so we are faced with only porting the compiled runtime from Win 7 to Win 10.

Two of the four applications in PB 12.5 on Win 7 are compiled with the Windows classic style property in the Project object checked.  These two apps look fine in Win 10; the other two do not.  They look flat, dark, grey, and title bars on frame and response windows do not have any colour; very unattractive and confusing.  Our clients will not like this look.

It's my understanding that the Windows classic style is deprecated in the Win 10 environment and therefore is deprecated in PB 2017; therefore, it looks like when we do migrate to PB 2017, we will need to choose a new look.

Given that we do not yet have PB 2017, we are unable to determine/choose a new look for our applications.  Would anyone have a suggested look that may be similar to the Windows classic style look?

Why not give the trial version a spin and see how things render on Windows 10?  

Since you are in a recent version of PB your migration should be quite easy.

Thanks for this suggestion.  We may do this in remediation.  It would also be kind of a dry-run at migration.

Did you try compiling your applications without checking the "Windows classic style" checkbox in the project painter? 

BTW - "Windows classic style" is available in PB2017.

Thanks so much for your reply.  Yes, the two applications that do not look very nice are compiled with the check box unchecked.  The ones that look okay/nice, the same as it does on Win 7, are checked.



It's interesting that the Windows classic style is available in PB 2017.



We may try some further testing in remediation on our runtime versions generated from PB 12.5 on Win 7 with this checkbox checked ported to Win 10 and see how that goes; otherwise, we can try once we have migrated to PB 2017.

A couple versions back they changed the name of the checkbox. It used to be 'New Visual Style Controls'. Now that it is 'Windows Classic Style', the meaning has been reversed.
