Hi

I'm trying to deploy my first application to PowerServer 2021 (old PowerBuilder Classic app), but I've clearly done something wrong or not done something.  When I select 'Build and Deploy PowerServer Project' I just get these messages:

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?  Couldn't find anything similar from searching.

Thanks

Jason.

Hi Jason,

What's the output of the dotnet --list-sdks command?

Francisco

Hi Jason;

My first guess would be a missing .Net Core SDK installation. The SDK is required from PS generation. Also, make sure that you are running the PB IDE in "Admin" mode - that is an absolute requirement for PS work.

Thanks Chris and Francisco.

Running the command gave me just one:

3.1.414 [C:\Program Files\dotnet\sdk]

PowerBuilder seems to be looking for 3.1.0.0 or is that a misleading message?

Yes, PowerServer 2021 GA currently only supports .Net Core 3.1.

OK, so now I've got several .NET SDKs as listed below.  The 3.1.10 is the earliest available i.e. there isn't a 3.1.0.0.  Nothing has made any difference and PowerBuilder IDE is run as administrator.  Any more ideas?

3.1.100 [C:\Program Files\dotnet\sdk]
3.1.414 [C:\Program Files\dotnet\sdk]
5.0.402 [C:\Program Files\dotnet\sdk]

OK, I found the problem.

When I installed PowerBuilder I didn't have full admin rights and it presumably couldn't find something or write something during the install process.  No errors were given, but hey that's computing.

I uninstalled and re-installed with full admin rights and now it all works.

Thanks to those that offered solutions.

Hi Jason,

The .NET SDK 3.1.414 works well with PowerServer on our end too. The installer installs .NET SDK 3.1.410 for users in general cases, but when it detects a higher supported version on the target machine, it no longer installs NET SDK 3.1.410.

This issue might be the .NET SDK 3.1.414 corrupted. Please try uninstalling the 64-bit .NET SDK 3.1.414 and installing it again, you can download it from the link below.

If there is the issue remains, please open a support ticket in the support portal. Many thanks in advance.

Hi Jason,

How did you install PB without admin right? Appeon installer will check and requires for admin right, otherwise, you cannot install PB. Please open a support ticket in the support portal. Many thanks in advance.

And please provide the information below for more study, thanks.
1. The detail OS version you are using.
2. Did you install using the online installer or an offline installer package?
3. If it’s a Windows Server, were there multiple users logged in the machine?
4. Was the logged in user account administrator, standard user, guest, or other?
5. The screenshot of the UAC(User Account Control) settings.
6. The logs under C:\Windows\SysWOW64\AppeonInstallLog.

Regards,
ZhaoKai
