FYI -

Our company FINALLY allowed us to purchase Appeon's PB for the simple reason that Appeon PB is certified for Windows 10, and no previous version of PowerBuild is so certified. Many of our clients have asked specifically for this certification, so that was THE deciding factor.

An additional factor was that the annual support & upgrade costs for SAP PB was about the same as Appeon's annual license fee, so if you were already paying for support from SAP, then this will not cost you any MORE, and might actually cost you less.

Good Luck,

Olan

Hi Amit,

No, support and bug fixes are not available for PowerBuilder 11.5.  That was end-of-life long long long time ago.

Here are some of the key benefits of upgrading to the latest version of PowerBuilder:

1. You get support and bug fixes

2. Compatible with latest versions of Windows OS (e.g. Windows 10, Windows Server 2019), Databases (e.g. SQL Server 2019, Oracle 19c), etc.

3. You get all these new features: https://www.appeon.com/developers/powerbuilder-release-history.html and https://docs.appeon.com/appeon_online_help/pb2019r2/whats_new/index.html

Best regards,
Armeen

PB 2017 is the first appeon product.  My understanding is that all versions prior to 2017, including your 11.x version, are SAP products and thus you would need to talk to SAP about any support they might be willing to provide.   Having said that, I am fairly certain that sap will not provide any support for anything other than maybe 12.6 and even then i doubt you can get anywhere.

If you need to do anything to your legacy app, then you will eventually be stuck and unable to work on it.  Just getting PB 11.x installed and running could be a problem.  The old licencing they used may prevent you from installing PB 11.x on a new machine.

IMO, if the app has any value, then you should upgrade to a current version of PB (2019R2, or at least 2017R3)
